Is anyone out there familiar with Larrivee guitars?

The Larrivee LV-03R at Golden Age Fretted Instruments in Westfield, N.J. I think I want this.

Some friends and I visited Golden Age Fretted Instruments in Westfield, N.J., Saturday afternoon.

I tried out a few acoustic things, including the Martin Eric Clapton model (incredible), a Taylor 410CE (not so great) and a Larrivee LV-03R.

Although I'm sure I walked past the Larrivee booth at NAMM in January (assuming Larrivee was at NAMM, and I'm pretty sure they were), Saturday, Nov. 13, was the first time I've ever thought about -- on any level -- the existence of Larrivee guitars.

But I felt a real connection with the model I tried at Golden Age, so now I'm taking the brand seriously. It was light, attractive and fast (my term, meaning E-A-S-Y to play, fun, enjoyable, airy, low action, crystal clear, neato). It's also pretty affordable.

I'm still low on dough (I keep blowing my savings in distant, French-speaking lands) -- but at least I can dream about buying something other than a super-expensive Martin, Guild, Taylor or Gibson.

The Larrivee website, www.larrivee.com, doesn't give many details about the company or its founder, Jean Larrivee, but I think the guitars are made in Canada (not Quebec, either, despite the French surname) -- although Wikipedia places the factory in California.

Whatever. I was just wondering if anyone owns one of these or has any experience with the brand.
